Summary of Updates to Grades 7-12 Learning Plan

As presented at Board of Education Workshop, February 4, 2021:

Starting February 22, 2021, the following updates to the current Grades 7-12 Plan will occur:

  • Shift from remote X-Time to synchronous (remote and live) X-Time

    • All sign-up procedures must be followed to ensure safety (schedule to be released next week)

    • Bussing will be available

  • Virtual Students will shift to additional Google Meets (working on scheduling now - start date  is March 1, 2021.)

  • Hybrid students will shift to a synchronous learning schedule

    • Blue Day: In-Person (live) - report to class at specified period

    • Blue Day: Remote (at home) - report to Google Meet at specified period

    • Gold Day: In-Person (live) -report to class at specified period

    • Gold Day: Remote (at home) - report to Google Meet at specified period

Additional Highlights

  • Continued 6 feet social distanced within In-Person Class Setting remain in effect during synchronous  learning

    • See the Synchronous Learning Contract for guidelines and expectations for learning (to be released next week)

  • Intent to return to full 5-day school attendance after the April Break (week of April 5th), contingent upon:

    • Continued improved directional progress in pandemic (general downward trend in positive tests, upward trend in vaccine access, etc.)

    • No restrictions put in place by NY State, CDC, Department of Health (DoH), or other expert governing bodies

    • Should restrictions prevent 5-day attendance, the synchronous learning model will remain in effect

    • Protocols shifting with 5-day re-opening:

      • Less than six feet of social distance within the classroom

      • Mandatory mask wearing unless a mask break is specified by the teacher

      • Option for continued synchronous instruction available for current hybrid students hesitant of full return

      • Continued synchronous instruction available should in-person students be quarantined

      • Possible adjustments to schedules

      • Adjustments to lunch procedures and room locations

      • Students will carry individually assigned portable plastic shields throughout class day

Please contact your child’s principal with any questions. There will be no changes to the K-6 Plan.
