Ms. Regolino’s first grade class at Norwood Avenue Elementary School has been learning about the sun, moon, and stars. Through an immersive virtual reality (VR) experience with Educational Technology Specialist Mr. Franzese, students were able to learn about the moon. Students were transported to the lunar surface, experiencing firsthand what it might be like to walk on the moon. This unforgettable experience not only sparked curiosity about space but also fostered a deeper appreciation for the science and technology that makes such journeys possible.

Comsewogue’s virtual reality headsets are a part of our STEAM cart initiative. The district's headsets are used in tandem with Nearpod Field Trip activities powered by 360Cities, providing a dynamic experience along with the use of the district’s iPod Touches. These are essential to the headsets as a display for the Nearpod VR experience.  In collaboration with Ms. Regolino, Mr. Franzese set up the VR headsets and students were able to enjoy the virtual experience with their classroom teacher as their tour guide. Ms. Regolino controlled each 360 image the students experienced and also had control of advancing to a new 360 field trip image. This allowed the teacher to keep the students engaged in the same experience together, making for a memorable lesson and interactive activity for the students.
