About Our Program

As the Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics, I would like to welcome all of you to the 2021-2022 school year. This current year has been a challenge, but we are fully back and all of our athletic teams are off to a great start. I am extremely excited about the new school year. At Comsewogue, we have fifty-nine athletic teams and are fortunate to have outstanding athletic facilities at both the High School and JFK. The majority of our athletic teams were named NYS Scholar Athlete Team Award Recipients last school year and we earned the honor of a School of Excellence for having more than 75% of our teams qualify as NYS Scholar Athlete Teams for the fifth consecutive year. The six tennis courts at the high school continue to be widely used by our students and community members and we are hoping to recondition our tennis courts at JFK soon. Our fantastic new turf field was redone four years ago and is one of the nicest turf fields in Suffolk County and last spring we installed new baseball and softball turf fields. They are absolutely beautiful and I could not be prouder of how they turned out. This spring we are hoping and expect our new field house to be completed.

The Physical Education and Health departments continue to strive towards having all students establish lifelong fitness skills. As educators it is our responsibility to instill the qualities of a healthy mind and body. At the primary and secondary levels the Health and Physical Education curriculum will continue to be aligned with New York State Learning Standards. At the high school we are very excited about our new project adventure course that was completed last summer.

Comsewogue Athletic Principles

Our interscholastic athletic program will follow four basic principles that will be the foundation of Comsewogue Athletics.

  • Commitment/Dedication: Commit to the sport you have decided to participate in and dedicate yourself to be the best you can be.

  • Passion: Believe in what you are doing and make it an important part of your life.

  • Effort: Work hard and good things will happen.

  • Have Fun: Enjoy what you are doing and make the most of each moment.

You can also go to the Section XI website for information pertaining to Suffolk County Athletics and our sports teams' schedules.
