Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! As the Director of Health, Physical Education, and Athletics, I am thrilled to welcome everyone back for another exceptional year. The Comsewogue athletic program continues to grow, now boasting sixty-four teams, including Unified Bowling and Basketball, as well as our newest additions, Varsity Game Day Cheerleading and Varsity Flag Football. Our student-athletes continue to excel both on and off the field; this past year, we were proudly designated a NYS Scholar Athlete School of Excellence, with more than 75% of our varsity teams earning NYS Scholar Athlete honors.
We are incredibly fortunate to offer premier athletic facilities at both JFK and the High School. Our students and community frequently enjoy our tennis courts across our campuses. Our main turf field, renovated nine years ago, remains one of the finest playing surfaces in Suffolk County. This is complemented by our baseball and softball turf fields installed in the Spring of 2021, and the remarkable John N. Swenning Sr. Press Box completed in 2022, which continues to be a wonderful asset for all.
Beyond competitive sports, our Health and Physical Education departments are fully committed to fostering lifelong fitness habits and promoting a healthy mind and body. To achieve this, our primary and secondary curricula remain closely aligned with the New York State Learning Standards.
I am honored to be a part of the Comsewogue team and look forward to a fantastic year ahead. Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to visit my office in the high school, call 631-474-8196 (fax: 631-474-8175), or reach out via email at mdevincenzo@comsewogue.k12.ny.us.
